Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Photos attached are from this past weekend. Bob Tabernacki working on the guts of 5205; The west end of the ballast track headed for a soon to be new switch with the mainline; one of the steel flats with a new coat of black paint; switch work for tracks 0, 1 & 2 to the carbarn; and the jacket installed on 928's boiler.

Both days had a very good turn out of volunteers. Saturday saw Errante, Geders & Voelpel working on the new trucks for 5205 & Scott turning wheels in the machine shop. Jimmy Scott was painting more gons in the carbarn. Haack installed the insulation and jacket on 928's boiler while Tabernacki & Eckrich were making improvements to 5205. Welch was working on the ballast track connection with help from Paul Smith & Dale Bitsch.

Sunday was a beautiful day with the temperature around 70 degrees, which is tremendous for the second Sunday in January. Tie removal work was finished on track #2 in the station. The work crew for the day consisted of Welch, Owens, Owings, Marx, Mosbacher, Lorance, Bitsch & Greathouse. Jim & Jimmy Scott were also there and got the newly painted cars out in the sun & warm temps to help season the new paint.

Dave Neubauer has only a few more days left before he retires from Schnucks on January 21st. Congratulations to Dave !! We all wish you a very enjoyable retirement. Dave said he would still be very busy as he has many, many years worth of stuff to sort through in his basement but certainly plans to be more active with the WF&P.
