Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Photos attached are of the WF&P table Saturday at the Dupo train show with Jim Greathouse, Gina & Hunter Debellis and Jim Scott. Two photos of track changes in the yard in March 1982 with the newly completed carbarn extension on the right (compare it to current photos) and last a photo of the 300 with a freight train in 1974.

Saturday saw a busy work crew at Glencoe. Geders assembled the new trucks for 5205 for a test fit; Rawls repacked the fireman's side steam piston on 401 and installed piping on 928; Haack worked on 928's cab; Tabernacki made supports for new fuel & hydraulic tank on 5205; Fritschle ground down 928's cab frame for an even fit. Welch & Bitsch worked on replacing the electric lines that run in the pipe under Grand Ave.

Sunday was cold with some light snow but it didn't stop Welch, Bitsch, Lorance and Owings from working outside on track. Glencoe got about and inch of snow but in Arnold we got 2 to 3 inches and north county got little if any.

The WF&P was well represented at the Dupo train show. Jim Greathouse, Kary & Barb, Gina & Hunter, Scott & myself were all there for at least part of the day. Jim G. of course is there all day and sets up the table and packs it back up at the end. If you haven't had the chance to work with Jim at one of the shows, he represent the WF&P very well and does a super job selling the WF&P and its souvenirs to the patrons. Many thanks to Jim for his service on behalf of the WF&P. Members Stan Domijan, Ali Shahriary and Justin Sobeck were also at the show.

Today was a much nicer weather day and it brought out a good crew. Bitsch, Lorance & Welch installed conduit under Grand Ave. and with Paul Smith also worked on the new carbarn track. Geders & Errante were in the machine shop with 5205's trucks while J & J Scott were painting cars and continuing to rebuild flat car trucks. Tabernacki was making a new packing gland for 535.

Please check out this web site from Mike Walsh who is attending college in New York state. He is taking a machine shop class and made cylinder parts for a G scale live steam locomotive. Good job Mike! http://mikewalsh.dns2go.com/ruby/index.html
