Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.
Saturday was very cold with the high temp around 20 degrees. This kept everyone working indoors but there was plenty to do. We had a very good crew for the day. J & J Scott and Mohen continued the rolling stock repairs. Haack, Fritschle & Rawls were working on 928, while the machine shop had Errante, Geders, Tabernacki, Lawson, Bitsch, Hardt & myself. We continued with 5205's trucks while Hardt was making parts for 400's right crosshead and Tabernacki was making a new steam packing gland for 535. Neubauer stopped by later in the day wearing his new trademark Chinese hat.
Sunday was just a bit warmer which allowed Welch & Bitsch to get some more of wiring done outside before heading back indoors to a better climate. Jimmy Scott & John Mohen were in the carbarn painting away on the flat car seats.
Today (Wed 22nd) saw Errante & Voelpel back to work on the 5205 trucks and Tabernacki finished the packing gland for 535. Scott was busy with making new car seats and Lorance, Smith, Welch and Bitsch got the chance to work outside on a very nice day (high around 50 degrees) on the ballast siding.
