Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Photos attached are of the first work train to the wye this year, the purpose was to bring back a load of ballast to use in the yard; Devin & Hunter rolling up the extension cord after track use; the 928 with a very nice coat of black paint (complements of Jimmy Scott), a completed truck for 5205, new WF&P member Thomas Webster Rawls son of Christy & Josh Rawls - congratulations to the new parents, and last several photos of the Decatur 2-6-0 including Ken Davis in the red cap.

Today brought rain to the area so most work was indoors. J & J Scott & Mohen in the carbarn; Bitsch, Geders, Errante & Voelpel in the machine shop working on 5205 and 400's crosshead. Hank was rewiring the ticket booth while Tabernacki & Owens worked on 535 in the Roundhouse.

Sunday was also rainy but there was still a good crew of Marx, Ernst, Lorance, Bitsch, Welch, J & J Scott & Mohen. Saturday we had a visit from new member Carey Williams of Chicago. Carey is bringing his Ottaway to the WF&P to operate on Members Day on June 24th and we look forward to seeing it in operation. Thanks to DeBellis, Eckrich, Errante, Foster, Haack, Lawson, Mohen, Neubie, J & J Scott, Tabenacki, Voelpel, Welch, Geders, Hardt & Bitsch for volunteering on Saturday. Many of this winter's projects are coming to a close in time for a new passenger season which is just around the corner.

Tabernacki & Geders made a quick trip to Decatur on Tuesday to visit with Ken Davis and the 12" gauge mogul under construction. Ken said they plan to have the locomotive at Glencoe to run by Members Day if not sooner.
