Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.
Photos attached are of Joe Geders with 400 on the turntable; Devin Lawson switching out cars with 535; Hunter DeBellis with 535 as he celebrated his 11th birthday; Jim Greathouse with 400 & train passing 401 with Jerry Fritschle; Elliott & Ian with 535 and several of the celebrants from one of the birthday parties on Sunday.
The weather Sunday turned out to be better than forecast, while we did have a short rainfall most of the day was partly sunny and dry. 400, 401 and 535 each took turns pulling passengers to Yeatman and back. Unfortunately 13 suffered from a dead battery and was not in service. The battery has since been replaced and 13 will be used on Friday for our first weekday special run.
While operations begin officially this Sunday please don't forget that there is still a work crew at Glencoe on Wednesdays and most Saturdays. If you are able to help and need to check the work schedule please contact Bob Tabernacki or Jim Scott.
Herold Wind is in town and participated in operations on Sunday as well as spending the week working at Glencoe. Today saw J & J Scott picking up scrap iron; Tim Kessinger, Herold, Foster & Tabernacki were in the roundhouse doing repairs to 535, changing #13s oil, doing a compression test of 5205 and piping the 928.
Joe Geders is on his way to Ely, Nevada to see Chris Brophy and is doing the steam engine rental on Saturday. Chris is scheduled to be his fireman. Good luck Joe!
