Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.
Sunday turned out great! With the temp about 80 degrees and some morning clouds we were very busy from the start. The passenger count was 476. We are already over the 2,000 rider mark for this season. Power for the day was provided by 535, 401 & 13. With several members out of town we had just enough volunteers for the day. Thanks to all who participated and made the day successful.
Photos attached are: a very rare photo of Bob Hardt running 401; Jim Scott with 13 passing 401; 535 with Kary Eckrich passing 401 at Mohan and Steve Marx with 535 leaving the station.
Marx just returned from a vacation trip to Poland to ride many of their streetcar systems. Steve said it was a great trip and he & his wife really enjoyed the experience.
All members should have received their invitation to the WF&P's annual Members Day on 6/24 by now, if you haven't please let me know. Don't forget to let Kate Hardt or Mike Lorance know how many you are bringing for lunch, it's important that they get an accurate count so enough food is there for everyone to enjoy. This year's lunch will be catered by the Eureka Supersmokers.
This Saturday is the annual 7.5" gauge meet at Kenny Davis' in Decatur Illinois. WF&P members are certainly welcome at the meet. If you are interested contact Ken for details & directions.
