Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.
The weather was much better on Sunday than the previous week. While there were some threats of a shower on Father's Day other than a few drops it was mostly sunny and warm. The passenger count was 411 and power for the day included turns with 401, 535, 704, 13 & 5205. 401 was towed back to Glencoe from Yeatman during it's first run due to a leak that developed at one of the water glass valves. 704 & 5205 filled in for the 401. 5205 is now back in service as the hydraulic valve has been replaced and the carburetor was rebuilt by new member Jim Keeton.
Photos attached are of 535 first with Tabernacki at Yeatman & with Neubie at Glencoe; 5205 with Geders & 13 with Brennan.
Don & Esther Miller have been in town since Saturday and we expect many more out of town visitors for this weekend.
Just a few short days left until Member's Day. It looks like the weather will moderate in temperature for the weekend which is very good as today was hot. We expect a large crowd for the day. Please remember when you arrive to see Kate Hardt at the pavilion as she will give you your meal tickets and name tags. Saturday is the one day a year when members can play "student engineer". If you wish to sign up to run a WF&P locomotive on Saturday please see the Trainmaster (me). Also as of last I've heard we are good to go with our visiting steamers. This being Carey Williams' Ottaway, Jim Pekarek 0-4-0 & the long awaited 2-6-0 from Decatur. Lunch begins at 11:30am to 12:30pm.
