Attached are photos of 534 during it's last month of operation in October 2004 before being dis-assembled for a new boiler.
Today (Wed.) finally saw decent weather so the tie crew got busy installing 62 new ties from Glencoe eastward. The crew consisted of Percival, D. Smith, Lorance, Neubie & Welch. Scotty continued work on gondola 251. Greathouse was preparing 171 for the upcoming train show in Collinsville while Foster & Tabernacki were busy with 534 in the roundhouse. Ralph brought out the new johnson bar for 535 that he made in his shop at home.
Due to the wet cold weekend no MOW was done on Sunday but Bell, Lawson & Tabernacki continued the boiler fitting for 534 following work done on Saturday by Owens & Bob T. The trailer deck for 171 was cleaned and primed on Saturday by Lawson, Hardt & Eckrich. Keeton & Scotty were busy with the trucks from 251. The wheels were well worn and the axles were too long causing wear in the bolster cap. These will all be repaired and the 251 will be back on the rails soon.
