WF&P Logo News Letter Index

Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

The latest news on John Errante is that he has moved to Bethesda Dillworth Nursing home for rehab. Phone # is 314-968-5460 & the address is 9645 Big Bend Blvd. Thanks to Bob T. and Malachi Owens for the info.

Ken Davis wanted me to tell all WF&P members that they are invited to his annual meet on June 9th. Ken has a nice 7.5" gauge railroad on his property in Decatur, Illinois (and smaller gauges). For more information please contact Ken. He also said "lucky" #7 will be at Glencoe to operate for Members Day two weeks later on June 23rd.

Next we congratulate Chris Brophy on his recent promotion at the Nevada Northern RR to Shop Foreman. Remember that Chris has been with NN less than 2 years and has only been out of High School a few years, so this is quite an accomplishment by any standards. We continue to wish Chris the best and have no doubt he will accomplish whatever he sets out to achieve.

Thanks to Jim & Dawn Greathouse for all the time and effort they put into representing the WF&P at the Collinsville Train show. With the 171 we had a great display and every family stopped by to let their kids ring the locomotive bell (yea, listen to that ding-ding for 6 hours). Other members helping out were Kary & Barb, Dennis Smith, Bob T. & Devin, Ron Spicer & myself.

Track work is progressing well with the final ties installed today (Wed). Ballast work is close behind that. Scotty has begun pre-printed stick-on reporting marks for the gondola cars. These look great and I'll try to get some photos for next week. The new reversing lever has been installed on 535, 928's rods were removed for painting.

Photos attached are from Kary of the Train Show, from Ron Spicer of Sunday's work crew (is that Joe Christen in the photo?, good to see Joe out again) and from Paula of the before and after shots from cleaning the crew restroom.
