Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Photos attached are from Saturday at the roundhouse with Eckrich, Tabernacki, Dennis Smith, Hunter & myself performing hydro tests on 400 & 535. Scotty & Brennan were greasing car bearings.

Sunday's report; Owings, Lorance, Welch and Marx were using Engine 13 with Gon 201 for removing refuse ballast from the rear of the inside of the carbarn on Tracks 2 and 3 to get the area leveled and for fresh ballast to be applied. Two carloads of "RB" were taken and spread at the east side of Swampy Creek Bridge.   Bell, Ernst, and Dennis Smith had the 5205 and the "twin" gons 126 & 127 applying 4 carloads alongside the mainline in different spots.  Bitsch was "doing" signals; the Scotts were in the carbarn and Haack and Fritschle were busy in the roundhouse.  Info supplied by both Marx and Owings by way of Neubie.

Today (Wed) had Scotty, Brennan & Fritschle finishing up the grease work on the passenger fleet; Jimmy S. repainted the Illinois Terminal gondola while Keeton worked on a storage box for welding rods. Hank continued cleaning out the old ballast on tracks 2 & 3 in the car barn extension while Foster painted 534's frame. Tabernacki was fitting 535's new reverse lever.

Sunday will be our annual warm-up day for operations. If the weather is decent we should have some passengers but will be concentrating on getting volunteers and equipment back into operating condition.

Thanks to all who made the effort all winter to make it out to the WF&P on a regular basis and help with maintenance. We certainly have a dedicated group and would not have the successful seasons that we do without your consistent endeavors.
