WF&P Logo News Letter Index

Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Sunday was just great. The weather was perfect and 487 passengers paid to ride the WF&P.

We had 2 large Birthday parties on Sunday which made for a festival atmosphere. Power for the day was 400, 5205 and 13. 535 had been repaired from the week before but the right piston came loose from the piston shaft, when moving it off the apron, and it never left the roundhouse. 535 will be back in service on Sunday thanks to Bob T., Devin & Bob Hardt.

We had plenty of volunteers for the day and had an especially good turnout of student members. Devin, Hunter, Forrest, Elliott, Ian, Sam & Matt all were very eager volunteers on the trains and servicing the locomotives.

Thanks to the Lego group who set up for this one Sunday in the GFK, they will be back in October.

Today (Wed) saw a 1pm Birthday special with 28 passengers, Nebuie was happy he got to be conductor. The ties were finished on carbarn track 3 and 7 loads of ballast was used to fill in the floor of the new extension. Lorance, Welch, P. Smith & Neubie were the crew. Scotty & Keeton were very busy with putting the new doors on the 1300 passenger car. The car will then be painted a dark green with a light tan interior to keep the seats from heating up in the sun.

The new yard signal has been installed by Dale and is in service. I've included two photos of the signal which will show a red or yellow indication only.

Work continues on the 534 as time allows due to normal operation repairs. Bob T. was able to spend time Wednesday on the blast & petticoat pipes and get them ready for installation.

Member's Day is only one month away. Members will be receiving their mailing soon and lunch will again be from Super Smokers.

Jim
