Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

At least we can say Sunday was not a total washout but it did rain. The passenger count was 240 and this included two large birthday parties. Power for the day was 535, 928, 13 & 5205. Special thanks to Bob Rands Jr. who stayed most of the afternoon and got the broken cylinder cock on 928 repaired and the locomotive back in service. Thanks also to all the members who dealt with the rain to keep the trains operating.

Hat's off to Hank Welch who came up with a great solution for wheel stops on the carbarn tracks. I've included a photo of the stop open & then closed. It's welded to the side of the rail and just flips over when needed.

Jack Nansen, one of the Brown Road founding members, passed away recently. Jack was very active at the Museum of Transport and was involved in it's founding also. Our condolences to Jack's family.

If you have not called in your RSVP for members day the deadline is Monday the 17th. It's very important that this is done so there's enough food for everyone. We look forward to seeing a number of out of town members & friends, several of which are bringing a locomotive to operate.

Congratulations to Mike Walsh who is back in town for summer break from college. Mike started a new job on Monday as a machinist intern in Peoria, Il.

Don't forget this Sunday is Father's Day.

Jim Strain
