Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Sunday, of course, was Father's Day. Ticket sales totaled 411 and that exactly matched the number from Father's Day 2006. Power for the day was 928, 535 and 13. This was the warmest day of the season so far and it's just a prelude to the long hot summer in St. Louis. Thanks to all who volunteered as I'm sure there were other activities to do on this important day.

We are certainly looking forward to Saturday. Many out of town members have made the trek to St. Louis for Member's Day. We will have several visiting locomotives as well. The attendance looks to be similar to last year which was 140. Lunch will be catered by Super Smokers and we ask that you bring a side dish or chips or dessert. Don't forget to bring lawn chairs so there is enough seating for everyone. Lunch is at 11:30am. Please make sure you have notified Mike Lorance or Bob Hardt if you are attending so the lunch count is correct.

Today (Wed.) saw Hank & Lorance grounding out tree stumps, rolling stock with the Scotts & Brennan had 1300 being prepared for painting, Wapelhorst & Geders were busy with 928 & 180 getting them ready for Saturday. 5205 had a new hydraulic hose replaced by Bob T. as well as adjusting drive chains and the frame was power washed. Foster begain cleaning 534's stainless steel jacketing. Don't forget that we are able to concentrate on operating trains on Sundays due to the dedication of the Wednesday / Saturday crews who keep all the equipment maintined.
