Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Sunday started out great. The trains were full of passengers from 11am to 1pm then we had some rain shortly thereafter and this kept the passenger count down for the remainder of the day. Final count was just over 300 tickets sold. Power for the day was 13, 535 & 928. We had 3 out of town engineers participating, Wind, Geders & Wapelhorst. It was great to see all 3 again especially since they were at the WF&P Saturday also. Of course Don & Esther Miller were in attendance and will still be at Glencoe this weekend. It's always a treat to have Don in town and get the chance to meet with him and talk. He is, as was Fred, a true treasure of the WF&P. Lew Schneider braved the St. Louis heat and humidity and we even got him to take a turn being the engineer of 928. Way to go !!

Thanks to Carey Williams, Jim Pekarek, Mike Hawkins & crew and of course Ken Davis & the Decatur bunch for bringing locomotives to Member Day and operating them. Your presence really added to the festivities of the day. Head count for Members day was about 140 which was similar to last year, not bad !!

The only student member that was at Glencoe on Sunday was Hunter. All the others were recovering from their chance to run a steam locomotive on Saturday. Everyone did a great job, had a good time and hopefully took home some great memories.

Don't forget the WF&P was well represented at the Balwin Days parade Saturday morning of Members Day. The 52 caboose was used on the trailer. Thanks to Jim & Dawn Greathouse and Greg & Andrew Wapelhorst as well as Brennan for taking a much slower walk (than last year) along Manchester Rd. handing out brochures.
