Believe it or not we just passed the half way point of the operating season. Sunday saw a ticket count of 581 which was just behind the prior Sunday at 592. Almost 1,200 tickets sold in two weeks at the end of July, not bad when you consider our passenger counts in mid-summer are usually very low due to the heat & humidity. Power for the day was 5205, 535 and 928. Thanks to all who made Sunday a success.
Welcome to new participating members Nathan Patterson, Gary Sedovic & Brad George.
Nathan returns after being a student member several years ago and is now a Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff's department. Gary has helped out on the Wednesday work crew but is now interested in Sunday operations.
Today saw Lorance & Welch rebuilding benches in the station and the entry door to the stucco. Brennan and the Scotts were assembling fasteners on 1300's doors while Foster & grandson Derrick cleaned out the atomizer on 928. Tabernacki finished cutting firebrick for 534.
Our web site continues to bring in big numbers with an average of 400 to 500 first time visitors per week. Thanks to Jim Greathouse for a great site and keeping it up to date.
Photos attached include Member's Day provided by Ron Spicer and one from Lew Schneider of his adventure running 928 that day.
I've also included some photos from the Rothwell Park RR in Moberly, Mo. It is also 12" gauge and as you can see it is well worth the visit. Congratulations to these volunteers as they have a great railroad.
