Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Yes, it's already September and Labor Day is past us. There's only 8 Sundays left in the 2007 season but if the last two are any indication we will be very busy at the WF&P. Passenger total for Sunday 9/2 was 623 which compares to the prior Sunday at 573, so almost 1,200 paying riders in two weeks. Power for the day was provided by 400, 535 and 13.

Today (Wed.) had Welch working on the roundhouse turntable to resolve the alignment issue that derailed 535. Dennis Smith, Paul Smith, Brennan & Patterson joined Scotty in the carbarn as Jim took flat 151 out of service due to a coupler height problem and put 157 in its place. Scotty is also looking at replacing all the brake springs on the flats this winter. The 1300 has a coat of primer on it and is really taking shape.

Don't forget the convention at John Wood's RR, the ATT&NW, is just around the corner. The WF&P will be open on 9/13 (Thursday) for convention registrants to visit on their way to Steelville. If you are available on the 13th to volunteer please contact me. This is a great opportunity to showcase the WF&P and make some new friends.
