Another busy week at Glencoe, 915 passengers paid to ride the WF&P on Sunday. We ran 3 train sets all day long and many thanks to TMs Eckrich and Marx for keeping everything moving. We had plenty of crew for the day and thanks to all who recognize we are in the busy season and are making the extra effort to help out. Power for the day was 535, 400, 928, 13 and 5205. This is the first time we ran 3 steamers for the entire day all season. During the last 10 days of September, including specials, our passenger count totaled over 2,100 riders and October is yet to come.
Greg Wapelhorst is here for two weekends and grandson Andrew will be celebrating his 9th birthday this Sunday. Congratulations to Andrew.
We also have some great news from Chris Brophy. Chris has accepted a job with the San Luis & Rio Grande RR in Alamosa Colorado as they are developing a steam program of their own beginning with SP 1744 a 2-6-0 which ran on weekends this past summer. They plan to expand the steam operation next year and beyond so Chris will get in on the ground floor of a new operation. Chris will also be at Glencoe the next two Sundays and helped out with today's work day. Congratulations to Chris and he would certainly enjoy seeing all his WF&P friends stop by and say hello. He will be in town until 10/17.
Our condolences to the Ray Pennell family. Ray passed away last Thursday from cancer. Ray was owner of Steam Age, the company that made the boilers for 350, 180, 400 and 534.
Thanks to the Mississippi Valley N Scalers for spending the last 3 Sundays running their layout in the GFK. The N Scalers are holding their annual train show at Kirkwood Community Center on the weekend of Oct 13/14. Times are 10am to 4pm Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday. It's a very nice show/swap meet and certainly worth the time to visit.
Next, the Lego trains will be running for 3 Sundays beginning Oct 14th.
