Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Yes, Sunday was one for the record book. We ran 28 trains which were all dispatched by Steve Marx, Steve did a great job and continues to impress everyone with his ability to handle these busy days. The first train left Glencoe at 10:20am and the last left Glencoe on time at 4:15pm. Those 28 trains were a new record for one operating day as well as the 1,200 tickets sold. Our previous record on tickets for one day was 1,103 from October 2006. Add to that the 200 or so kids 3 and under that ride for free and the passenger count becomes closer to 1,400 for the day. Thanks to all the volunteers for the day, we had plenty of very good help and it showed with tickets being sold by the bundle, excellent souvenir sales, great crowd control and the trains that kept moving smoothly. Everyone who participated deserves credit for making Sunday a memorable day.

Photos attached are from Sunday and include shots of the Lego layout in the GFK and a visit from a dozen or so antique autos from the StL Model A club.

Sunday the 28th is the final operating day of 2007. This will also be the Chili cookout Sunday. Hot dogs and Chili will be provided but we ask that each of you planning on eating bring chips or dessert. Thanks to all the souvenir ladies for setting this up and taking care of the food. Make sure you take the time Sunday to thank them.

Herold Wind is here for the final week of October, Don Miller will fly in from California to spend the weekend and Greg Wapelhorst will also be here. Welcome back to all.
