Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

The attached photos are from Saturday 11/10.

Jerry Fritschle winterizing 403

Devin, Kary & Bob with 13 getting an oil change and repairing an oil leak.

2 Shots of the extended work area in the carbarn. Thanks to Hank for getting this in service so quickly while Scotty & crew have already put this space to use rebuilding the Wagner cars.

2 Shots of Dale digging a trench west of Bluffs and laying conduit for future signal work.

Last a shot of the ROW for this winter's track construction. Hank has been surveying for fill to go accross the old roadway to even out the grade.

John Errante has become a regular at Glencoe again. It's very good to see him busy in the machine shop and he has been there on Wednesdays & Saturdays. He helped me a lot on Saturday as I was turning wheels on the 400's tender trucks. Thanks John. 400's tender truck wheels have flat spots and deep flanges and will all be machined, we also found 535's need to be done so it looks like I'll have plenty of wheels to turn this winter.

Yesterday's crew (Wed.) saw Paul Smith, Dennis Smith & Hank cutting 8' plastic tie sticks into 2' pieces. The remaining stacks of tie material had been loaded into gons 2 weeks ago (yes Neubie helped) and this made the cutting process go much quicker. Scotty, Tabernacki, Errante & Dale rounded out the day's crew. Dale has trenched and installed 110' of the conduit in the first week.
