Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

Photos attached are from Saturday. We find John Errante working hard on 401 in the machine shop, Dale is continuing to dig faster than a machine on the signal conduit and Hank has leveled out the new roadbed at Yeatman end of track. Hardt, Lawson & Tabernacki were the Roundhouse crew while J&J Scott, Keeton & Mohen manned the Carbarn. The tender wheel turning project continues and thanks to Scotty who has been patient training me on the lathe.

Today saw Scott and Keeton unloading material needed to rebuild the Wagner cars. Work continues on 534, 5205 and 401 with Errante and Tabernacki while Hank, Paul Smith & Neubie poured concrete on track 7 in the rear of the carbarn. This gives Scotty a full concrete floor in his work area. Jimmy Scott led a group from the VA Administration who are looking over our facilities for a possible Disabled Vets Day next May at the WF&P. After the concrete work was done Hank, Neubie and Lorance headed to the wye to begin raising the current end of track to match the new roadbed.

While Sunday was a miserable weather day there were still some hardy members to finish cutting the remaining ties. Hank, Dale, Marx, Ernst, Lorance & Neubie were there and when the ties were done they performed some repairs on the Frisco gondola. Hank also plans to repair the switch frog on the west switch at Yeatman this winter. It is badly worn and he will replace the frog with a section of rail on the main for the winter and do the repairs in the shop.
