John Errante continues to work on the 401. The track extension work is well underway. 5205 will need a new motor as the original one is on death's door. It will get a 25hp Kohler the same as the 13 and 704 received. 400's tender wheels have been turned to the next set will be 535's. Neubie and Wayne have been hauling fuel to Glencoe. Fritschle has been working on 535's cylinder cocks.
As always, it was great to see Chris Brophy back to visit. He spent last Saturday with John Errante in the machine shop while Sunday he and Haack worked on the 180; Chris had just spent two weeks in the very wet northwest getting two steamers ready to move to Alamosa. He heads back to Alamosa on the 1st as Friday the 4th is the ground breaking ceremony for the new locomotive & car shop which the SL&RG badly needs. Until the shop is completed all their work is currently being done outdoors. Alamosa does not get a lot of snow but it does get very cold there so warm wishes to Chris and it won't be long before the first steam up of the season. While in the northwest Chris got to fire the SP 4449 streamlined 4-8-4 - way to go Chris.
