Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated members, Opening Day 2008 was a success. We couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise with the warm sun and mild temperatures. We had 436 passengers (not counting the 3 year old and younger crowd). Locomotives 704, 535, and 400 were the motive power for the day. After the second run with 704, a minor problem with the front truck was noticed. 13 was brought out to replace the 704. The St. Louis Model T club was out in force and enjoyed showing off their toys while riding on ours. Thanks for all the help we received from new member "Tennessee" over the last week. He was great to work with and sure knows his way around a steam locomotive.

Most of the membership have sent in their 2008 member dues. Thanks as this will be a major help toward expenses from the recent flood. Again many thanks to those members and non-members who helped before and after the flood.

Be sure you have marked Saturday, June 28th on your calendar. That is the date of our annual Member's Day. (always the 4th Saturday of June). Notices will be mailed in mid May for RSVP.
