Jim Strain, club president, gives a weekly report of happenings at the railroad.

It rained Sunday at Glencoe until 10am. We were expecting few passengers but were pleasantly surprised by the fact that 361 tickets were sold and the day went very well. The last train of the day behind 5205 got caught in a downpour at Yeatman but all trips were dry prior to that. Trainmaster Mosbacher started the day with 535 & 13 as power and we used 6 car trains due to the wet rail. In time this proved to be inadequate for the passenger load and we added the 3 missing cars to each set. Thanks to all who volunteered on Sunday. With the holiday weekend, there were plenty of other activities around town but many of our dedicated members made time to help out.

Saturday saw the welcome return of Bob Rands Jr., son of former WF&P President Bob Rands. Bob has changed careers and is now a machinist and is very interested in being active at Glencoe again even though he is currently living in Arkansas. For those of you who do not know the history of the track extension from Mohan to Yeatman, this project was the passion of Bob Rands Sr. when he was President and Bob Jr. helped him with construction in the early years.

Saturday also had Devin busy with 704 while Tabernacki & Rands finished 535 and got it ready for Sunday. It ran very well on Sunday. Keeton & Scotty finished the last door on 1300. Jimmy Scott was sanding the car down to be painted. Hank is finishing up track 1 in the carbarn and then that project will be competed.

The first month of the season is already passed and we have just over 3 weeks until Members Day. Members should be receiving their postcards soon and if you don't receive one in the next week please let me know. We expect to have several visiting locomotives as well as good food and good friends.

Don't forget that the meet at Ken Davis' is Saturday, June 9th. Ken has invited all WF&P members who wish to attend. I've been there several times and it's a very enjoyable time. Ken asks that you bring chairs, beverages and/or snacks.

Thanks to WF&P member Bob Jefferis for including a 4 page article on the WF&P in "The Local" which is the publication of the KC chapter of the NRHS. Neubie will include a copy of the article in a future "Poof"
