Various members give a report of happenings at the railroad.
Saturday saw near 200 members visit for Member's Day with 27 trains dispatched during the day. We'll have pictures available soon of the visiting power and members.
There will not be a July Board of Governers meeting due to illnesses and vacations.
Sunday, June 29 saw over 555 passengers. Power for the day was provided by 353, 400, and 13. While there were a few sprinkles at times, the day was very nice. Some even said it was a little chilly for the last Sunday in June.
400's tender was drained and the lines disconnected. Some small stones were found and it is believed they may have been clogging the line. Rust was found in the tender of the 928. It had been using the tender from 300 until its own tender is built. A temporary resolution is being worked on for now. 535 derailed at the service track switch again but was quickly rerailed with little interuption to operations.. Hank is investigating the cause and will provide a remedy. It appears to be a gauge issue with the trailing truck. More damage was found to the signal system this week. It is believed a vehical tried to use the tracks as a way to gain access to the bike trail. Once they realized there was no access via the tracks it appears they backed into the one of the signals as you are leaving the yard. Hank and Dale will look into replacing the pole since it was the only thing damaged this time. The signal at Bluffs is still under repair from vandals.
