Various members give a report of happenings at the railroad.
Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Work continues on the car upgrade. Got about half of the draft gear installed on the next car. Not much else for today. Jim Scott.
Extension Work Track crew has spent three days spiking track so far this work season. They have been limited to laying only what has been graded - and had only a few hundred feet.
MOW has been cutting down trees at the north end of Yeatmen in preparation to building a good drainage ditch to handle the water runoff down the valley and not washout the tracks.
MOW has also been working to cross level the curve up at summit. They are building up the shoulder, using the excess dirt from Dale's digging at Bluffs, so the ballast they put in there to level the track doesn't roll down the hill.
MOW is also working on repairs to the Glencoe Station Turntable ring rail. Main line aligning and crossleveling should be done later when the weather warms and after the threat of frost heave dimishes
Building and Ground time was spent on re-roofing the two pavilions this winter while the weather wasn't too cold, and in the very cold weeks, they worked up on the second floor of the stucco studding out walls on the MOW room.
Signals Dale and Hank plan to be pulling the power lines to Bluffs and installing the transformer at Bluffs sometime in April.
