Various members give a report of happenings at the railroad.
Rolling Stock
Jim Scott and John Mohen were in the Carbarn. They blew out the air hoses for next weekend (4/18) grease party to lubricate all the passenger cars.
Building and Grounds
Work continues on the crewshack to clean up the entrance area. Greg Wapelhorst and Jimmy Scott have been replacing the panelling with drywall and fresh paint. After a couple of floods, this will be a much nicer look. Hank Welch has been working on the entry door of the stucco building. This is only part of a long needed facelift for this building. Windows will need to be replaced then the outside of the building will need to be sealed to protect the stucco.
Maintenance Of Way
Hank Welch, Tom White, Dennis Smith, Paul Smith, and David Neubauer were pouring concrete for the remaining six holes of the passenger Turn Table ringrail. David Neubauer and Tom White hauled two carloads of firewood recently cut from the wye to David’s pick-up truck (recently dubbed the "GG48"). Hank Welch is renting a backhoe to clear ditches and remove some stumps at the wye. Steve Marx, Rich Owings, Tom White, Hank Welch and Tom Ernst cleaned up the ROW up at Mohan and hauled the used ballast to the wye.
Motive Power
Steve Haack was in the Round House working on #400 as well as the diesel engine #5205 to replace the direct drive between the engine and hydrolic pump by moving the pump and installing a chain.
Signals
Dale Bitsch continues digging and burying conduit at Bluffs to extend the signal system.
General News
Bob Tabernacki came out and was walking around. He walks well; just does not talk too well yet.
